Maybe you already have a safety / security team of volunteers in place, but who trained them? Not every church has active or retired Law Enforcement officers at their disposal. Therefore, they find themselves relying on the concerned “Concealed Carry card-holders”. When considering a House of Worship Security team, it is important to know their credentials. These team members may need to make split-second decisions with many lives on the line. Having a plan in place, recruiting the right people and properly training them is critical to minimizing the casualties. The Sheepdog Project, LLC (TSP) is the areas leading House of Worship Security Team training company. We offer professional insight into identifying the security risks and needs of your House of Worship. We will begin with the nationally recognized FEMA Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) process. THIRA provides a comprehensive, consistent approach for identifying and assessing risks and associated impacts. The results of this assessment will be provided with recommended steps for creating (or modifying) your personalized Emergency Operation Plans (EOP).
Once you have your EOP established, TSP will provide your security team with the quality training they need to assure your congregation the safety they’ve come to expect at your worship services.

We utilize the MPOETC Back-up Duty Weapon Course for House of Worship Security team members. Successful completion of this course does not provides any credentials or benefits as it does to the Law Enforcement Officer. However, what it does is provide for the team is a standard set forth by the State of Pennsylvania for its active officers who to carry a back-up weapon on duty.
Prior to taking this course, the H.O.W. Security Team member must have successfully completed Levels 1 – 4.

For Handgun 101, Bare Bones Tactics & Level 1 Courses: No previous training required. These are Entry level courses and will be conducted indoors. Live-Fire shooting courses (Conducted outside) For Level 2: You must have completed our Level 1 (in person or online.) If completed online, you will be required to provide the completed test prior to the start of this course. (Not required for active or retired Law Enforcement.) For Level 3: Unless you are prior or current Law Enforcement, you must have successfully completed our Level 2 prior to taking this course. For Level 4: You must have successfully completed our Level 3 course prior to taking this course. For Level 5: You must have successfully graduated from our Level 4 course with a score of 85% or higher prior to taking this course.
You may cancel this course for a full refund prior to 3 weeks from the start date or you may reschedule for a future date up to 1 year from the original date of purchase. If you cancel within the same week as the course (within 7 days barring emergencies), you will forfeit your registration fee and be required to pay full price to sign up for the course again.
For Handgun 101, Bare Bones Tactics & Level 1 Courses: If you own a pistol that you currently carry or are wanting to carry, please bring it with you. If not, we will fit you with one and use it for training. NO BULLETS ARE ALLOWED IN THE TRAINING ROOM. FOR ALL LIVE FIRE (SHOOTING) COURSES You will be required to bring the following with you: 1. Eye protection 2. Hearing protection 3. Your pistol 4. A holster that will be worn on a belt or on your strong-side hip (no small of back or Cross-draw holsters permitted until you have successfully completed our Level 2 & no Shoulder holsters permitted.) 5. A minimum of TWO magazines (or speedloaders for revolver users) 6. A hat with a brim (baseball style hat is preferred) 7. Check the weather and dress accordingly; we will be outside the whole time. No open-toe shoes permitted. If you need any of these items, just let us know and we'll make arrangements to have them available for you. If you don't have a gun yet, be sure to add the ALTRA PACKAGE to your order and we'll provide you with all the above. NO SINGLE ACTION REVOLVERS ARE PERMITTED TO BE USED NUMBER OF BULLETS REQUIRED For Level 2: Minimum of 125 bullets for your caliber of pistol For Level 3: Minimum of 200 bullets for your caliber of pistol For Level 4: Minimum of 225 bullets for your caliber of pistol For Level 5: Minimum of 225 bullets for your caliber of pistol.
