This is where the Concealed Carry training BEGINS. This is the first step to take when considering carrying a handgun for self-defense. In this course, you will learn the Laws regarding Use of Force, Concealed Carry, Dispute Resolution, and the Castle Doctrine. Additionally, you will learn how to safely handle firearms and verify their status (Open, Empty & Safe).
If you don’t have a pistol yet, we strongly recommend waiting until after this course to buy one.
You will receive professional instruction on the proper “fit” of a handgun and the Basic Fundamentals of shooting. Practicing a defensive stance, grip of the gun, a correct sight picture and sight alignment, squeeze the trigger and follow through. Oh yeah, there may be a written examination as well (hint, hint.)
This course is all indoors and there is no live-fire shooting during this part of the course. There are no bullets needed for this course, and there are no loaded guns permitted in the classroom. If you already have a favorite pistol, feel free to bring it with you and practice with your own gun.
Unless you are active or retired Law Enforcement, this is required prior to taking any course we offer. This is also available in an Online version at LEVEL 1 LEGAL & HANDGUN FUNDAMENTALS EDUCATIONAL VIDEO. The online version allows you to take the course in the comfort of your own home. Plus, you can take it at your pace when it’s convenient for you.
The combination of our Level 1 and Level 2 courses meets the requirements described in the section 2923.125 (G)(1) and (G)(2)(b) of the Ohio Revised Code. Recent changes made to the Ohio laws enable “permitless carry”. However, that won’t do anything for you in PA except get you in a jam.
PA § 6106(a)(2) reads, “A person who is otherwise eligible to possess a valid license under this chapter but carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license and has not committed any other criminal violation commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.”

For Handgun 101, Bare Bones Tactics & Level 1 Courses: No previous training required. These are Entry level courses and will be conducted indoors. Live-Fire shooting courses (Conducted outside) For Level 2: You must have completed our Level 1 (in person or online.) If completed online, you will be required to provide the completed test prior to the start of this course. (Not required for active or retired Law Enforcement.) For Level 3: Unless you are prior or current Law Enforcement, you must have successfully completed our Level 2 prior to taking this course. For Level 4: You must have successfully completed our Level 3 course prior to taking this course. For Level 5: You must have successfully graduated from our Level 4 course with a score of 85% or higher prior to taking this course.
You may cancel this course for a full refund prior to 3 weeks from the start date or you may reschedule for a future date up to 1 year from the original date of purchase. If you cancel within the same week as the course (within 7 days barring emergencies), you will forfeit your registration fee and be required to pay full price to sign up for the course again.
For Handgun 101, Bare Bones Tactics & Level 1 Courses: If you own a pistol that you currently carry or are wanting to carry, please bring it with you. If not, we will fit you with one and use it for training. NO BULLETS ARE ALLOWED IN THE TRAINING ROOM. FOR ALL LIVE FIRE (SHOOTING) COURSES You will be required to bring the following with you: 1. Eye protection 2. Hearing protection 3. Your pistol 4. A holster that will be worn on a belt or on your strong-side hip (no small of back or Cross-draw holsters permitted until you have successfully completed our Level 2 & no Shoulder holsters permitted.) 5. A minimum of TWO magazines (or speedloaders for revolver users) 6. A hat with a brim (baseball style hat is preferred) 7. Check the weather and dress accordingly; we will be outside the whole time. No open-toe shoes permitted. If you need any of these items, just let us know and we'll make arrangements to have them available for you. If you don't have a gun yet, be sure to add the ALTRA PACKAGE to your order and we'll provide you with all the above.
